The Effect of Riboflavin on the Serum Anaphylxis

Abstract
The investigation was carried out with 53 healthy guinea pigs, weighing about 300 grams, Rioflavin solution (2cc contains 0.5mg Vitamin B2) prepared by Sankyo and horse serum prepared by Osaka serum institution.
Guinea pigs were injected subcutaneously on the abdomen with 0.25cc of the serum. The second injection of the serum was injected directly into the vein of front legs in a dose of 0.25cc per 100 grams body weight, on the fifteenth day from the beginning of the sensitization.
Results showed that the riboflavin decreases or inhibit the shock produced the serum anaphylaxis. Continuous daily injection of riboflavin from the time of sensitization or the injection of the serum mixed with the riboflavin in the second injection inhibits the anaphylaxis to a certain degree but the injection of the dose of riboflavin, espicially large dose, thirty minutes before the second injection of the serum has great inhibitory effect on the serum anaphylaxis.
